I am a retired art teacher with teaching experience in Kingston, NY, Taipei Taiwan, Rochester City School District and Nazareth College of Rochester.
I received my BS in Art Education at SUNY New Paltz and my Masters in Education at Nazareth College.
When retirement came around, I set to work using my newly found “treasure time” taking my creativity in other directions. I bought a small table loom and began to explore the relationship between texture, color, adornment and function by weaving tapestries, scarves, purses and jewelry.
Soon I became intrigued with the possibilities felting, in combination with weaving, offered. My workshop began sprouting felted vessels and bowls of all sizes! Often, I combine metallic flakes, mesh, lace, wire and glass and metal beads along with natural materials, such as shells, feathers, twigs and grapevine. My work is very tactile. It feels as if I am painting with texture!
